A slightly disappointing visit, as they weren’t running trains that day.
We were in Cardiff, visiting the Doctor Who Experience (which isn’t there anymore), and decided to run up to Barry to look at the Barry Tourist Railway. Perhaps we should have checked what was going on that day…
As it turned out, they couldn’t run trains as the platform was taken up by a charter:
Still, it was a nice day, we got to travel from Cardiff to Barry on an old-fashioned DMU (142 Pacer – my favourite train/bus hybrid abomination).
Note: I would rather travel on a Pacer than a Voyager/Pendalino. This is not some odd nostalgia thing – it is just that being well over 6′ tall, I can’t actually fit in the awful seats on modern trains.
